“We are in high spirits. We have planned and put things on the ground, and as of now, our athletes have started arriving in camp. They are training, and we have been sorting out logistics. Most of the items required for the competition are already on ground,” he said.
The NHF official noted that the federation has also intensified efforts to guarantee the safety and well-being of participants by engaging relevant authorities responsible for medical services and security.
He explained that formal communication had already been established with the necessary departments to provide medical coverage and security throughout the duration of the championship.
“We have already written to the medical department seeking their support and attention. The same applies to safety and security. Those arrangements are already in place, and we are working closely with them,” Mamman added.
The secretary-general assured hockey enthusiasts that this year’s edition of the Super Hockey League would be highly competitive, with participating teams expected to showcase different tactical styles, technical abilities and levels of skill.
“You will see entirely different performances from different teams with different skills and techniques. I promise hockey lovers an exciting competition,” he stated.
More than 25 male and female teams from various parts of the country are expected to participate in the championship, making it one of the biggest domestic hockey events on the national sporting calendar.
Mamman also acknowledged the support of the National Sports Commission (NSC), describing the commission’s contribution as crucial to the successful organisation of the tournament.
He further revealed that the host side, FCT Hockey Club, is expected to be fully assembled in camp by next week as preparations intensify.
The Nigeria Super Hockey League remains the country’s premier domestic hockey competition and serves as a platform for discovering and developing talents for national team assignments.
At the 2025 edition, Kada Stars of Kaduna emerged champions in the men’s category, while Kada Queens claimed the women’s title, setting the stage for another fiercely contested championship this year.
