Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have disrupted suspected terrorist logistics operations in Kogi State, intercepting couriers and recovering a large cache of ammunition in a series of intelligence-led operations.

According to a statement issued on April 20, 2026, the troops intensified operations over a three-month period targeting terrorist supply routes and dismantling logistics networks within their area of responsibility.

In one of the operations carried out on March 29, 2026, along the Jamata–Owara road in Lokoja, troops intercepted a suspected courier riding a motorcycle.

A search revealed a specially modified compartment designed to conceal ammunition. Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to known terrorist elements, prompting further operations.

Building on that success, troops later apprehended a high-profile ammunition courier, Mathew Elisha, also known as Nasara, who had reportedly been on security watch lists.

In a separate operation on April 20, 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence mounted a snap checkpoint at Oshokoshoko along the Obajana–Kabba road, also in Lokoja Local Government Area. During the operation, a Toyota bus traveling from Makurdi to Obajana was intercepted.

Two suspects, identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi were arrested.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat.

Other items recovered include mobile phones, a driver’s licence, a National Identification Number slip, and an identity card.

The suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the 12 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation.

Military authorities said the operations highlight ongoing efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement and dismantle their supply chains across the region.
