The resolution, however, comes amid lingering concerns over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s sudden death, with his family reportedly seeking answers before his burial.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on October 14, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, after reportedly collapsing at home. He left behind his wife, Damilola Olayemi, and their two young daughters.
How The Burial Dispute Started
Following his death, disagreements reportedly emerged between his widow and other family members over where his remains should be buried.
While his father and paternal relatives reportedly favoured burying him at the Ibadan house he built or beside his late mother in Ikirun, Osun State, his widow was said to prefer a cemetery burial.
The disagreement attracted considerable attention on social media, with Nigerians divided over the positions of the widow and the singer’s relatives.
The controversy also raised questions about the place of a surviving spouse in burial decisions, particularly when her preferences differ from those of her husband’s extended family.
Beyond the disagreement over his final resting place, the singer’s paternal relatives reportedly expressed concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.
His uncle, Lawal Ademola, had earlier spoken about the family’s desire to establish what happened before the singer was buried, raising questions about his sudden collapse and death.
The family’s reported demand for an investigation added another dimension to the controversy, as attention shifted from the burial arrangements to the need for clarity over the circumstances of his passing.
However, no publicly established medical finding or official investigative conclusion has confirmed the cause of Toluwanisings’ death or established any foul play.
The family’s concerns should therefore be distinguished from proven allegations of wrongdoing.
Family Agrees On Ibadan Burial
The disagreement over the burial location was reportedly resolved on November 1, when the family agreed that the singer would be buried at his Ibadan residence.
Gospel singer Lanre Alewilese disclosed the development in a social media video, describing the disagreement as a misunderstanding that had eventually been settled.
He also appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow, defending Damilola against the criticism surrounding the burial arrangements.
He urged the public to show understanding towards a woman who was still grieving the loss of her husband.

Woli Arole Calls For Befitting Burial
Meanwhile, comedian and preacher Woli Arole has criticised those allegedly using the controversy to attract attention on social media, insisting that the late singer deserves a befitting burial.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Arole described Toluwanisings as a remarkable talent whose music had touched many lives.
He expressed disappointment that the singer’s death had become an opportunity for social media arguments instead of prompting people to support his surviving family.
“We’ve lost a great guy, great gift to a generation. It’s sad that a lot of people are now beginning to want to use it as a means for social media attraction,” he said.
The comedian urged those involved to resolve their differences privately and allow the singer to be laid to rest with dignity.
“The Bible says that let the dead bury their dead. Whatever process, anything that needs to be done within that corner, let it be done. Let the young man be given a befitting burial,” Arole added.
He further urged Nigerians to direct their attention towards preserving the singer’s legacy through his wife and children rather than prolonging the public disagreement.
“Please, you should focus our energy on what is left, how his legacy will be preserved in his children and the wife,” he said.
The controversy has reignited conversations about the treatment of widows in Nigerian families, especially when disagreements arise between a deceased man’s wife and his relatives over burial arrangements.
While cultural and family traditions often influence burial decisions, the emotional and practical realities facing a surviving spouse cannot be overlooked.
In Toluwanisings’ case, his widow is left to raise two young daughters while navigating the loss of her husband and the public attention surrounding his burial.
Although the reported agreement has settled the immediate disagreement over where the singer will be buried, questions raised by his relatives about his sudden death remain separate matters that deserve appropriate attention.
For now, the focus is on giving Toluwanisings a dignified farewell and ensuring that his wife and children receive the support they need.
