Toluwani Sings reportedly died on October 14, 2026, with his burial arrangements said to have sparked a disagreement between his father and his wife.
Father Appeals To Daughter-In-Law
Speaking in a recent interview, Olayemi recounted how he approached his daughter-in-law after learning of his son’s death online and appealed to her to allow him to bury the singer at home.
According to him, she rejected the request and insisted that her husband should be buried in a cemetery.
Explaining his preference, the father said prayers could be organised at home without necessarily burying his son in a church or cemetery.
“I don’t want him buried in a church or cemetery. I want him buried in his house, and that will make me happy,” he said.

Raised By Maternal Relatives
Olayemi also spoke about his son’s upbringing, revealing that Toluwani was raised by his maternal relatives following the death of his mother in 1992, a few months after his birth.
He explained that he brought his wife’s body back from Kano after her death, but her family requested to see the corpse before asking him to leave the baby with them.
According to him, the family took responsibility for raising the child, partly because they did not want to lose the opportunity to care for him while dealing with the pain of losing their daughter.
The father added that his son grew up in a Christian environment because his maternal relatives were Christians.
However, Olayemi maintained that the late singer’s Muslim name was Sodiq Olayemi Bayonle, despite being widely known as Toluwani Sings.
He further stated that he remained in contact with his son and that his family contributed to the singer’s education.
The father is now appealing to his son’s wife and other people involved in the burial arrangements to consider his wishes and allow him to bury Toluwani at home.
The reported disagreement has brought attention to the family’s differing positions on where the late musician should be laid to rest, although further details about the burial arrangements have not been made public.
