He also commended Tinubu for the renomination of Shettima as his running mate, describing the decision as significant to the political partnership between the two leaders.

Yari Outlines APC Campaign Strategy

He said the council would pursue an issue-based campaign focused on peace, inclusivity and engagement with Nigerians, while highlighting the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Yari had previously indicated that the APC campaign would focus on the administration’s record and policies rather than attacks on political opponents.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council was formally constituted in August 2026, with President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima serving as chairman and vice chairman respectively, while Yari was appointed Director-General.

As part of the Borno engagement, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, at his palace in Maiduguri.
The visit provided an opportunity for the political leaders to seek the traditional ruler’s blessings and prayers ahead of the 2027 electoral process.
The delegation and the traditional institution also emphasised the importance of peace, unity, dialogue and responsible political engagement as preparations for the elections intensify.
The Maiduguri engagement forms part of the wider consultations being undertaken by the APC Presidential Campaign Council with stakeholders across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party’s activities are also published on the official APC social media pages.
