Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has booked a place in the first grass-court final of her career after defeating Wang Xinyu in straight sets at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany.

The Japanese sixth seed produced an impressive display to secure a 6-3, 6-3 victory in hot conditions, strengthening her preparations ahead of this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Osaka dominated throughout the contest, firing eight aces, converting four of her seven break-point opportunities, and winning 79 percent of points on her first serve.

She also broke Wang’s serve at key moments to comfortably wrap up the match.

The victory marks another milestone in Osaka’s return to top-level tennis, as she continues to improve on a surface that has historically been her least successful.

Despite winning four Grand Slam titles on hard courts—two each at the Australian Open and US Open—the former world No. 1 has never advanced beyond the third round at Wimbledon.

The 28-year-old will now battle either Elena-Gabriela Ruse or fourth seed Karolína Muchová in Saturday’s final, with the chance to claim her maiden grass-court title before heading to Wimbledon.
