The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has announced that the first phase of the 2026 National Premier Volleyball League will take place from June 13 to June 28, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The National Premier League, organised in honour of the third Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, will bring together the country’s leading male and female volleyball clubs to compete for honours.

As the federation’s flagship domestic competition, the National Premier Volleyball League serves as a vital platform for talent discovery, athlete development and the promotion of volleyball across the country.

The tournament is expected to attract top players, coaches, technical officials, administrators and volleyball enthusiasts from different parts of Nigeria.

Speaking ahead of the competition, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Nimrod Musa, reiterated the federation’s commitment to strengthening the domestic league system, improving competitive standards and creating pathways for athletes to excel at continental and international levels.

According to the federation on Monday, the commencement of the Premier League follows the successful completion of the Division One and Division Two leagues and forms part of ongoing efforts to expand volleyball participation and development nationwide.

The NVBF also called on government agencies, corporate organisations, stakeholders, media practitioners, sports lovers and members of the public to support and participate in the championship.

The competition will feature both men’s and women’s categories and is expected to showcase the growth, vibrancy and potential of volleyball in Nigeria.

The federation expressed optimism that the tournament would deliver high-quality competition while further advancing the development of the sport across the country.
