A 41-year-old man, Bassey Ekpo has set his neighbour’s house ablaze at 8 Miles in Calabar Municipality of Cross River State.
Ekpo allegedly claimed that he was sent by his 61-year-old mother, who is currently at large and has been named as the alleged instigator.
The occupant of the house, Ekemini Stephen, who disclosed this to our reporter in Calabar on Saturday, said with the assistance of neighbours, the suspect was apprehended and taken to the Ikot Omin Police Division.

He added that while he was in church, he received a phone call from a neighbour informing him that his residence had been set ablaze.
Meanwhile, the Cross River State Police Command has arrested Ekpo.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Akata said based on information received, the scene of the incident was visited by police officers and photographs taken.
Akata maintained that investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the involvement of all persons connected to it
He assured the public that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
