The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike was among eminent winners of the Governor of the year in the 4th edition of the Bayelsa Media Network Award, BMNA, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The award was held at the Siseli Ernest Ikoli press center of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, secretariat, along Azikoro Road, Ekeki, Yenagoa.
Wike was honored for uplifting the standard of living in his state and for his giant strides in infrastructure, good governance and his avowed doggedness crusade against injustices and lack of transparency in governance.
Though not physically present, the award was received on his behalf by the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers state, Evangelist Hope Ikiriko, who himself was awarded the Best Performing Local Government Chairman in the South-South geopolitical zone.

While receiving the award on behalf of Governor Wike, Evang. Ikiriko applauded the organizers of the BMNA for honouring the governor, adding that the award would amongst others spur Wike to continue to do more in uplifting not only the people of Rivers state but the entire Niger Delta region.
On his part, Evang Hope Ikiriko posited that the unique award which he did not solicit for would also spur him to do more for his people at the grassroots and promised not to rest.
Other recipients of the award were the Bayelsa state Deputy governor, senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Dr Gloria Douye Diri, Bayelsa state governor,s wife, Bayelsa state Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah, Amanyanabo of Opu Nembe, King Josiah Biobelemonye .
ln total 42 distinguished personalities were honoured in their chosen endeavors.
Speaking during the occasion, the project manager, Blessing Ozegbe said, the awards were meant to celebrate excellence, innovations, skills, acumen, ingenuity, expertise and philanthropy of men and women doing their best for humanity and society at large.
