The Adamawa state commissioner of police, S K Akande, has given reasons why the command decided to deploy the command’s operational assets around the facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.
This was made known through a press statement made available to media practitioners in the state via the command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the action, according to him, is designed to checkmate criminal activities around the facilities.
It would be recalled that hoodlums in some parts of the country have started attacking the commission facilities in some states.
To frustrate such acts in the state, the commissioner said the ongoing proactive measure being put in place by the command is a manifestation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) determination to provide a conducive atmosphere for peaceful political process in the state.
These deployments, according to him, “will surely assist in monitoring INEC materials, prevent any attempt to evade INEC premises, coordinate timely response to distress calls and to clamp down on violators.”

The commissioner was observed to have equally directed the Divisional police officers and their supervisory Area Commanders, to immediately ensure strategic deployment of officers at INEC offices in their respective Areas of responsibility (AOR).
While reiterating the constant deployments, The Trumpet gathered that he has also ordered a total clamp down on non-INEC staff found around the INEC facilities.
He warned political thugs across the state to steer clear and turn away from INEC facilities/materials else decisive action will be taken against anybody who decides to dare this warning.
He re-emphasized the firm determination of the Command in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the fight against crime and criminality while seeking full cooperation from members of the public on intelligence gathering and vigilance.
