Chief Maurice Vunobolki, has announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party after quitting the All Progressives Congress, citing what he described as a loss of confidence in the ruling party’s internal processes.
Vunobolki disclosed his resignation from the APC during a press conference held in Yola, stating that he left the party barely three weeks after joining. He said the decision was based on personal conviction and a commitment to democratic principles.
According to him, his brief experience within the APC exposed him to internal practices he believes fall short of fairness, accountability, and justice. “Political parties must reflect the democratic ideals they promote in society,” he said, adding that any deviation from such standards requires decisive action.
He further explained that his exit became inevitable after concluding that those values were not being upheld. Following his resignation, Vunobolki said he held wide consultations with supporters and political associates at both state and national levels.

He noted that the consultations reportedly produced unanimous feedback, with his supporters expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as a lack of transparency and fairness within the APC.
Announcing his return to the PDP, Vunobolki described the opposition party as more inclusive and better aligned with internal democracy, saying it provides space for constructive engagement and free expression.
He also disclosed that he rejoined the PDP alongside about 3,000 supporters who had already completed electronic registration, expressing optimism that more defectors would follow in the coming days.
Vunobolki commended the leadership of the PDP at both state and national levels, describing the party’s environment as welcoming and supportive for members.
