GraphicOnline reported on Friday that the directive was contained in a public notice issued by the university’s Academic Affairs Directorate. The notice referred to Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), which outlines the academic requirements students must meet to progress in their studies.
University of Ghana Enforces Minimum CGPA Requirement
Under the regulation, undergraduate students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 1.00 and fulfil the academic requirements of their respective schools or departments before advancing to the next level.
The regulations also make no provision for probation for students who fall below the stipulated academic standard.
The university’s notice stated: “Accordingly, students whose CGPAs fall below 1.00 upon receipt of all grades for their registered courses at the end of the 2025/2026 Academic Year are not in good academic standing and are required to withdraw from their programmes of study.”
The directive means students whose final academic records fall below the minimum CGPA requirement will be required to leave their programmes in line with the university’s regulations.
