Veteran Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has condemned bloggers and social media users circulating viral photos and videos of the widow of late actor Alex Ekubo, following his recent Service of Songs.
The actress expressed disappointment over the widespread sharing of the woman’s identity online, arguing that Alex Ekubo deliberately kept his wife away from public attention throughout his lifetime despite constant media scrutiny.
According to Uche Jombo, even the actor’s close friends respected his decision to protect his family’s privacy. She pointed out that the widow attended the Service of Songs wearing a face mask in a clear effort to avoid public exposure.
“A husband who had been through public scrutiny kept his wife private to protect her. None of his close friends ever shared her picture. She wore a face mask to his Service of Songs. Yet somehow, the privacy message didn’t register with bloggers. I woke up today to see her photos and videos all over my timeline as breaking news,” she wrote.
Uche maintained that the actor’s desire to shield his wife from public attention should be respected, even after his passing.

Her remarks have since triggered conversations online about the limits of celebrity coverage and the need to respect the privacy of public figures’ families during periods of grief.
While some social media users argue that celebrity families inevitably attract public curiosity, others have backed Uche Jombo’s stance, insisting that Alex Ekubo’s efforts to keep his marriage private should not be disregarded.
The debate continues to gain traction as discussions around ethical journalism, celebrity culture, and personal boundaries dominate social media platforms.
