South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla has removed Lagos from the schedule of her A*POP World Tour, days after growing calls from Nigerians to boycott her planned concert over renewed concerns about alleged xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
The Lagos concert, which was originally scheduled for December 22, no longer appears on the singer’s official tour itinerary. The change was noticed on Friday, sparking fresh reactions across social media.
The planned performance had attracted criticism from many Nigerians, who argued that the concert should not go ahead while reports of alleged xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa remained a source of concern.
The boycott campaign gained momentum after several public figures, including author and content creator Solomon Buchi and media personality Dotun, urged Nigerians to stay away from the show. They described the proposed boycott as a symbolic protest against the reported mistreatment of Nigerians in South Africa.
