Accident Occurs Along Makurdi-Aliade Road
The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday near kilometre five of the Makurdi-Aliade Road, as the commercial vehicle was travelling towards Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Sources said the driver was allegedly travelling at high speed when the vehicle lost its lane and veered into the nearby bush.
The crash occurred close to the vehicle’s destination in Makurdi.
Two Passengers Sustain Multiple Injuries
An eyewitness said the accident might have been avoided if the driver had reduced speed while travelling along the highway.
According to the eyewitness, the vehicle left the paved road and crashed into rocks and trees in the bush, causing injuries to some of the passengers.
Two of the six passengers reportedly sustained multiple injuries in the crash.
However, no death was recorded.
FRSC Confirms Makurdi-Aliade Road Crash
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Benue State, Ngozi Ahula, confirmed the incident.
Ahula cautioned commercial drivers against excessive speed, particularly on highways, urging motorists to obey prescribed speed limits to reduce road crashes across the state.
The FRSC official stressed the importance of responsible driving as motorists use major highways in Benue State.
