The confirmation was made on Tuesday by the Public Education Officer of the FRSC Enugu State Sector Command, Route Commander Theophilus Okoduwa.
According to Okoduwa, the tragic incident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday and involved two articulated vehicles travelling along the busy expressway.
The vehicles involved were identified as a Howo truck loaded with bags of cement and a MAN Diesel truck transporting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
He disclosed that four adult males were involved in the crash, with one person losing his life while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“Only one person unfortunately lost his life in the fatal accident involving four males,” Okoduwa stated.
The FRSC official noted that emergency responders acted promptly, ensuring that the injured victims were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for immediate treatment.
He further revealed that the FRSC quickly alerted both the Enugu State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service due to the presence of a truck carrying highly combustible LNG.

The swift intervention by emergency agencies helped avert what could have been a more devastating incident, considering the risks associated with transporting liquefied natural gas.
Okoduwa added that the exact cause of the accident on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway has not yet been determined, stressing that a full investigation is currently underway.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses reported that soldiers stationed near the accident scene joined emergency responders in rescuing victims trapped in the wreckage.
The Enugu-Onitsha Expressway remains one of the busiest highways in southeastern Nigeria, frequently recording heavy traffic involving commercial and articulated vehicles.
Road safety authorities have continued to urge motorists to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and ensure that vehicles are roadworthy to reduce the incidence of fatal crashes on the nation’s highways.
