Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 31 kidnapped victims and neutralised five terrorists during a series of coordinated operations across Zamfara and Katsina states, in what military authorities described as a major success against criminal and terrorist elements in the North-West.

The statement was issued by , Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.
According to the Army, the rescue operation took place along the Bagega–Kawaye axis in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The victims were freed following a precision air interdiction by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, supported by a follow-up ground assault on terrorist enclaves located west of Bagega Forest.
The rescued victims, who had reportedly spent several weeks in captivity, were identified as residents of Maga, Gummi, Zuru, Wasugu, Bukuyyum and Anka local government areas across Zamfara and Sokoto states. Military authorities said the victims have received medical attention and will be reunited with their families.

According to the army, in a separate operation within Zamfara State, troops engaged terrorists around the Maradun and Gidan Dan Jaja axis, killing two insurgents and destroying identified terrorist camps. Security forces also recovered locally fabricated rifles and four motorcycles believed to have been used by the criminals.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, troops intercepted suspected terrorists moving along the Ruwan Godiya axis and Sayaya Road in Matazu Local Government Area. The suspects were reportedly en route to launch an attack when they encountered troops.
Following an intense firefight, three terrorists were neutralised, while motorcycles and ammunition were recovered. Military sources disclosed that one of those killed was later identified as a foot soldier loyal to notorious terrorist kingpin Muhammad Fulani.
The Army said the operations underscore the continued offensive against terrorist networks operating across the North-West and reaffirmed Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
