The Special Adviser on Security Matters to Sokoto State Governor, Col. Ahmed Usman (retd.), has described the Eid-el-Kabir frontline visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, as a major morale booster for troops battling banditry and other security threats in Nigeria’s North-West region.
Usman stated this on Thursday in Sokoto while reacting to the visit by the Army leadership to troops of Operation Fansan Yamma stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Tureta Local Government Area of the state.
The Chief of Army Staff, represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Godwin Mutkut, celebrated the Eid-el-Kabir with the soldiers and shared lunch with them at the operational base.
According to Usman, the gesture demonstrated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the welfare, motivation and operational effectiveness of personnel serving in difficult and dangerous environments.

“This visit by the Chief of Army Staff to troops at the frontline during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration is highly commendable and deeply encouraging to the officers and men risking their lives daily to protect our people,” he said.
The retired army officer noted that the presence of senior military leadership at the frontline would further strengthen the fighting spirit of the troops and reassure them that their sacrifices were recognised and appreciated.
“Celebrating with the troops at their duty posts sends a strong message that the military high command values their sacrifices, commitment and patriotism. It will certainly boost their morale and operational confidence,” Usman added.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Sokoto State Government under Governor Ahmed Aliyu to supporting military and other security agencies operating across the state.
According to him, the administration remains committed to working closely with security institutions to restore peace in communities affected by insecurity and bandit attacks.

Usman further urged residents to support security agencies with credible and timely intelligence that could assist ongoing military operations across the state.
“Security is a collective responsibility. Citizens must continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that can help in tackling criminal elements threatening peace and stability in our communities,” he added.
He also prayed for the success of ongoing military operations and wished troops deployed across various operational theatres a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
