Troops involved in ‘Operation ENDURING PEACE’ have eliminated two armed assailants during a coordinated ambush in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, targeting criminal elements that have been threatening local communities.
The operation occurred on the evening of April 21, 2026, around 7:49 p.m., near Doruwa Babuje in the Marit region.
An official statement indicated that the mission was based on reliable intelligence regarding the movements of armed suspects associated with violent crimes, including attacks, sexual assaults, and armed robberies in the area.
Upon spotting the suspects, the troops successfully set up an ambush, resulting in a gunfight that led to the neutralization of two assailants, while others fled into nearby bushes under the cover of night.

A search of the area yielded one locally made rifle, five rounds of 7.62×39mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife, and a mobile phone.
The troops have since established a strong presence in the villages of Marit and Lajam to ensure the safety of residents, while efforts continue to locate and apprehend the escaping suspects.
The statement, issued by Captain Chinonso Oteh, media information officer of the Joint Task Force for ‘Operation ENDURING PEACE’, on April 22, 2026, reaffirmed the operation’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security forces.
