TikTok Star Peller Granted ₦500,000 Bail After Arraignment Over Alleged Obstruction Of Police Officers

Popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 after being arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court over allegations of obstructing police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Peller was arraigned alongside Bello Oladipo on a three-count charge stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred on July 2, 2026, along the Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos.

According to the charge, the defendants are accused of conspiring to resist public officers, obstructing four police officers while they were carrying out their lawful duties, and engaging in conduct likely to disturb public peace by allegedly threatening and recording the officers during the encounter.

The charges followed a viral video showing a confrontation between Peller and police officers. In the video, the social media personality alleged that he was harassed by the officers after being stopped while driving a newly acquired vehicle without a number plate. He also claimed that one of the officers pulled his shirt and pointed a revolver at him.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

The magistrate admitted them to bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each with two sureties. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a blood relative, while the sureties are also required to provide tax clearance certificates covering the previous two years.

The case has been adjourned for further proceedings.
