Nigerian cinematographer ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, has opened up about the difficult journey he experienced during his battle with kidney failure, revealing that doctors had to remove a kidney donated by his brother after the transplant failed.

The music video director shared details of the ordeal while recounting the lengthy search for a compatible donor and the challenges he faced before eventually undergoing a successful transplant.
Omori said his family spent about nine months searching for a suitable donor before his brother volunteered to donate one of his kidneys.
“My brother gave me his kidney after it took us nine months of struggle to find a donor,” he said.
However, the transplant did not go as expected, as doctors discovered that his body was not responding to the donated organ.
“The doctor tried again, but it wasn’t responding. So, they had to take me back to the operation theatre to remove it, and I went back on dialysis so I could heal,” Omori explained.
The failed procedure meant that the cinematographer had to resume dialysis while recovering from the operation and begin another search for a compatible donor.
According to Omori, the second search lasted another six months before a suitable match was eventually found.
“After waiting for another six months, we had to find another donor that could match before it turned out successful,” he said.
TG Omori Reflects On Brother’s Sacrifice
Beyond the physical challenges of the failed transplant, Omori also reflected on the sacrifice made by his brother, who donated one of his kidneys in an effort to help save his life.
“Now, my brother has to live with only one kidney,” he said.
