Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has intensified its crackdown on crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, leading to the arrest of 586 suspects and has initiated legal action in 225 cases, as authorities move decisively against illegal export networks.

A special report on the company’s operations revealed that 125 of the cases have already been filed in court, while 28 convictions have been secured, signaling a growing wave of accountability in a sector long plagued by impunity.

The arrests followed sustained operations targeting clandestine jetties, hidden loading points and marine routes used by criminal syndicates to transport stolen crude to offshore buyers.

Several vessels and illegal evacuation channels were intercepted and dismantled during the operations.

According to the report, Tantita’s strategy of choking export routes has significantly disrupted the oil theft value chain, weakened the capacity of criminal networks, and reduced the profitability of the illicit trade.

Backed by advanced surveillance systems and coordinated ground and marine enforcement, the security firm has continued to tighten its grip across key oil-producing states, delivering both operational and legal blows to perpetrators.

The report underscores that the rising number of arrests and prosecutions mark a turning point in Nigeria’s fight against oil theft, with offenders now facing real consequences for their actions.
