Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Hassan reportedly died at about 3 p.m. on Sunday at the age of 66.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko announced the burial arrangements in a statement shared on his Instagram page, saying the late actor’s remains would be taken to Ilaro on Sunday.
According to the announcement, a lying-in-state ceremony will be held at the Pavillon, Ilaro, by 11 a.m. on Monday.
The statement read in part: “With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who passed away at 3:00 p.m. today Sunday, 23rd August 2026. At 66 years.”

Kosoko added that the family, friends, colleagues and loved ones of the deceased were being prayed for to receive the strength to cope with the loss.
The burial was also announced by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of Best of Nollywood, who shared a notice from the Ilaro Muslim Community.
The notice stated that the burial prayer for Hassan would take place at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor and filmmaker.
His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The veteran actor’s burial in Ilaro is expected to bring together family members, friends, colleagues and admirers as they pay their final respects to the celebrated Nollywood star.
