Nigerian music executive Soso Soberekon has reportedly thrown a staggering ₦500 million into the middle of the long-running feud between former P-Square twin brothers, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, and Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy.

Key Highlights

  • Soso Soberekon reportedly offers Peter ₦500m to fight Paul.
  • Proposal could turn the P-Square feud into boxing.
  • Peter and Paul have had years of disagreements.
  • Their disputes involve finances and management issues.
  • Soberekon previously discussed efforts to reconcile them.

Soberekon offered Peter ₦500 million to step into the boxing ring with his twin brother, Paul, in what could become one of the most bizarre celebrity showdowns in Nigerian entertainment history.

The reported proposal has sparked reactions online because Peter and Paul are not ordinary rivals.

They are identical twins who once formed P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music groups, before their relationship and professional partnership deteriorated into a bitter and highly publicised dispute.

The brothers’ disagreements have, at different times, revolved around finances, management, creative differences and other issues surrounding their music empire.

Their repeated fallouts have resulted in multiple separations and reconciliations, with the latest chapter of their strained relationship once again playing out publicly.

Soberekon’s reported proposal has therefore taken the already dramatic saga to an entirely different level, replacing reconciliation meetings and family interventions with the possibility of the brothers settling their differences inside a boxing ring.

The proposal is particularly striking given Soberekon’s previous involvement in conversations surrounding the Okoye family dispute.

In February 2025, he spoke during an Instagram Live session with media personality Daddy Freeze about efforts by influential Nigerians to resolve the brothers’ crisis.

Soberekon mentioned former President Goodluck Jonathan, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, Peter Obi, businessman Emeka Offor and others among those who had attempted to intervene in the family dispute.

He also claimed he had heard that billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote had tried to intervene, although he said he was not certain about the claim.

According to Soberekon, Peter allegedly remained uncomfortable with the way an earlier attempt to resolve the dispute had been handled.

Now, rather than another round of family meetings, appeals from industry colleagues or interventions by influential Nigerians, the latest proposal would see the brothers put on boxing gloves and settle their differences in front of an audience.

The financial details surrounding the reported offer have also generated confusion online.

While the post circulating on X described the offer as ₦500 million for Peter to fight Paul, some versions of the story have interpreted the proposal as ₦500 million for each brother, potentially taking the total purse to ₦1 billion.

The exact structure of the reported offer remains unclear, and there is no verified confirmation that either Peter or Paul has accepted it.

Adding another dramatic twist is the claim circulating online that Peter reportedly considered the ₦500 million offer too small and allegedly pushed for ₦5 billion instead.

That claim has not been independently verified and should therefore be treated as part of the social-media chatter surrounding the story rather than a confirmed statement from Peter.

If the claim were eventually confirmed, however, it would take the proposed celebrity bout from a ₦500 million spectacle to a potential ₦5 billion showdown.

The idea has predictably triggered mixed reactions among Nigerians online, with some laughing at the sheer absurdity of offering hundreds of millions of naira for twin brothers to fight, while others are questioning whether a boxing match is really an appropriate solution to a family dispute that has lasted for years.

For some fans, the suggestion is entertaining because celebrity boxing has increasingly become a major attraction, with public figures turning personal disagreements and social-media clashes into commercial spectacles.

For others, however, the P-Square situation is far too deep to be reduced to a boxing match.

Peter and Paul spent years building an extraordinary musical legacy together. As P-Square, the brothers produced numerous hit songs and became one of Africa’s most recognisable musical duos, performing across the world and building a brand that extended far beyond Nigeria.

Their eventual split therefore shocked fans who had watched them rise from young performers to international stars.

Their disagreements have also repeatedly drawn their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, into the controversy, making the family dispute even more complicated.

The brothers have reconciled in the past, only for fresh disagreements to emerge, leaving fans divided between those hoping for another genuine reconciliation and those who believe the twins may never fully return to the relationship they once had.

That is what makes Soberekon’s reported ₦500 million proposal particularly provocative.

Instead of asking Peter and Paul to sit down, forgive each other and rebuild their relationship, the suggestion effectively turns their long-running family drama into a potential pay-per-view spectacle.

Social media users have already begun debating whether such a fight would actually resolve anything or simply create another layer of controversy between the brothers.

For now, there is no confirmed boxing date, venue or official agreement between Peter and Paul, and the reported ₦500 million offer remains a proposal circulating on social media.

But the controversy has once again thrust the P-Square family feud into the spotlight.
