Koko Ends Distinguished Basketball Career
Born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Koko established himself as one of the prominent players in Nigerian domestic basketball after beginning his association with Rivers Hoopers in 2009.
The 6ft 9in centre/power forward became an important figure in the club’s domestic and continental campaigns, contributing to several championship successes.
Koko won eight Nigerian Premier League titles during his career.
His first came with Mark Mentors in 2015, while the other seven were won with Rivers Hoopers in 2011, 2012, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2026.

NPBL Final MVP
Koko was named the Nigerian Premier League Final MVP in 2021 after producing a dominant performance against Gombe Bulls.
He recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in the final to help Rivers Hoopers secure the championship.
His performance further cemented his status as one of the key players in the club’s successful domestic campaigns.
BAL Bronze Medal
Koko also played an important role in Rivers Hoopers’ continental campaign.
In 2024, Rivers Hoopers won the Sahara Conference and went on to secure the bronze medal at the Basketball Africa League.
The Nigerian side defeated Cape Town Tigers 80-57 in the third-place game to record their best-ever BAL finish at the time.
Koko also captained the KingsMen during multiple BAL appearances and was part of the team that recorded an unbeaten 13-0 run in 2023.
International Career
Koko represented Nigeria at several international competitions.
His national-team appearances included the FIBA AfroCan in 2019, the AfroBasket in 2021 and the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup in 2019.
He also won the Crown Elite Championship in 2022 and the Louis Edem Invitational in 2023.
Rivers Hoopers Retire Koko’s No. 15 Jersey
In recognition of his contribution to the club, Rivers Hoopers have officially retired Koko’s No. 15 jersey.
The number will no longer be assigned to another player and will be preserved as part of the club’s history.
Koko’s retirement brings to an end a career spanning more than a decade, during which he collected domestic championships, continental honours and international experience while becoming a longstanding figure in Nigerian basketball.
