Saidi Balogun’s Family Celebrates Late Daughter Zeenat’s Posthumous Birthday, Advocates Sickle Cell Awareness

The family of Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has paid tribute to his late daughter, Zeenat Balogun, on what would have been her birthday, using the occasion to raise awareness about sickle cell anaemia and the challenges faced by those living with the condition.

According to the family, Zeenat battled sickle cell anaemia and faced the health challenges associated with the condition with remarkable courage and determination.

Khalid described his sister as a source of inspiration, saying her strength and positive spirit continue to motivate those who knew her. He added that her memory lives on through the love she shared with family and friends.

The tribute coincided with World Sickle Cell Day, prompting the family to encourage greater public awareness, understanding and support for individuals affected by the genetic blood disorder.

In a statement accompanying the remembrance, the family said, “We only die when we are forgotten. Today, the Balogun family remembers and celebrates the life of our beloved firstborn, Zeenat Balogun,” adding that her legacy continues to endure in the hearts of those she touched.

Saidi Balogun announced Zeenat’s death in October 2024 through a social media post featuring the image of a lit candle surrounded by flowers, a gesture that drew condolences from colleagues, fans and well-wishers across the entertainment industry.
