The State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Anoka, gave the assurance on Thursday while addressing members of Isoko People’s Measures who protested to Government House, Asaba, for a peaceful protest over the worsening power situation in the area.

According to Anoka, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is fully aware of the hardship caused by inadequate electricity supply and has already initiated measures to tackle the challenge.

“The governor is fully aware of the hardship caused by inadequate electricity supply and has directed immediate action to restore power to affected communities.

“I want to assure you that even before this meeting, the governor had listened to your concerns. He understands the importance of electricity to the people and is committed to finding lasting solutions,” Anoka stated.

The commissioner disclosed that intervention works had already commenced on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) network serving the area. He added that contractors would begin rehabilitation work on the critical power line linking Emevor and Ozoro next week.

“Before next week, efforts will be made to rehabilitate the line between Emevor and Ozoro to ensure that Isoko Nation enjoys at least eight hours of electricity supply daily,” he said.

## Ozoro 132KV Substation Key to Long-Term Power Stability

Addressing concerns over the abandoned Ozoro 132KV Power Substation project, Anoka described the facility as a strategic infrastructure project capable of providing a permanent solution to electricity challenges across Isoko Nation.

He explained that the project predates the current administration and has remained abandoned since around 2011.

“However, just last week, I submitted a comprehensive report on the project to His Excellency, and he is currently studying it as part of plans to provide a lasting solution to power supply in Isoko Nation,” the commissioner said.

While acknowledging that completing the project would require substantial funding and may take more than a year, Anoka noted that Governor Oborevwori had demonstrated strong political will to ensure its completion.

He further revealed that the governor had already approved the intervention project, with only administrative procedures remaining before full implementation begins.

The commissioner appealed to residents for patience and continued support, expressing confidence that noticeable improvements in electricity supply would soon be achieved.

## Isoko Leaders Seek Completion of Strategic Power Project

Earlier, Chief Jerry Othuke, speaking on behalf of Isoko People’s Measures, urged the Delta State Government to complete the Ozoro 132/33KV transmission line and substation project.

According to him, the completion of the facility would significantly transform electricity supply across the entire Isoko Nation and support economic development in the region.

Chief Othuke commended Governor Oborevwori’s administration for ongoing developmental projects across Delta State and expressed optimism that the governor would deliver the transformational power project for the benefit of present and future generations.

He noted that restoring stable electricity remains essential to economic growth, business expansion, and improved living standards for residents of Isoko Nation.
