Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema has been confirmed as one of the headline performers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA unveiled the entertainment lineup for the global football spectacle in a social media announcement, naming Rema alongside international music stars including Future, Katy Perry, Anitta, Tyla, and LISA.
The opening ceremony is expected to take place in Los Angeles, which FIFA described as the “world’s entertainment capital,” setting the stage for one of the biggest sporting and cultural events globally.
According to FIFA, the selected artistes reflect the diversity and cultural influence of the United States, as well as the unifying power of music across nations.
“The Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles represents the extraordinary scale of what the FIFA World Cup 2026 will become,” FIFA stated.
“Global superstars Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla will headline the celebrations in Los Angeles, with additional world-renowned artistes still to be announced.”
The football governing body added that the lineup celebrates the vibrance of global diasporas and the role of music in connecting audiences worldwide.

Rema’s inclusion marks another major international milestone for the Nigerian star, whose global profile has continued to soar following the worldwide success of his hit single “Calm Down.”
His appearance at the World Cup ceremony is also expected to further spotlight Afrobeats on one of the world’s biggest entertainment stages.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
