“It’s confirmed. They brought in two suspects Wednesday night,” the source said.
According to the source, one of the suspects is believed to be the individual who allegedly sent the firearm through a transport company from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to Effurun in Delta State.
The source further alleged that the deceased, Oghenemine Ogidi, picked up the parcel with the intention of delivering it to its supposed owner in Sapele before he was allegedly apprehended and killed by ASP Nuhu Usman and others at the Effurun Motor Park.
“Like I said, it’s not yet clear if the second suspect is the driver who transported the parcel from Yenagoa, but it is certain that the sender of the gun is among those arrested,” the source added.
Investigators are reportedly continuing efforts to trace other suspects connected to the movement of the firearm and ammunition.
The case has continued to attract public attention and outrage, especially following allegations of extrajudicial killing and abuse of power surrounding the death of the young man.
