A woman identified as Doris Emmanuel is currently battling for her life after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her former husband in a shocking attack that occurred in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
The incident, which has sparked outrage among residents, reportedly happened around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the victim’s residence in the New Era community while her current husband was said to be away from home.

Family members identified the suspect as Godlove Nicodemus, alleging that he separated from the victim about six years ago before allegedly attacking her at her new matrimonial home.
Speaking during a telephone interview with The Trumpet on Thursday, the victim’s nephew, Regina Gemi, said Doris Emmanuel narrowly survived the attack after suffering serious injuries.
According to the family, the suspect escaped immediately after the incident and has remained on the run.
The victim was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Taraba State, where medical personnel are currently working to stabilise her condition.
“I thank God for saving my sister’s life. This man, the police are looking for him. He wanted to end my sister’s life but God did not allow him,” Regina said.
The family disclosed that the matter has already been reported at the Jalingo Divisional Police Station, adding that security operatives have commenced efforts to track down and arrest the suspect.

Relatives further alleged that the suspect works with a local primary education board in Taraba State and worships at Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Mayo Dasa branch in Jalingo, alongside the victim.
They appealed to members of the public with useful information concerning the suspect’s whereabouts to assist law enforcement authorities in ensuring his arrest.
The incident has triggered widespread concern within the community, with many residents condemning the increasing cases of domestic and gender-based violence across the country and calling for swift justice.
As of the time of filing this report, the Taraba State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
