Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper and cultist, Ubong Michael, popularly known as “Ubong Boy,” during an intelligence-led operation in Ikot Aka Village.

In a statement issued in Uyo, the command’s spokesperson, Timfon John, said the 30-year-old suspect was apprehended on April 22, 2026, following credible intelligence on his movements.

According to the police, the suspect had been hiding in Port Harcourt but was tracked and arrested after secretly returning to his community.

Items recovered during a search include a human skull suspected to belong to a victim, a human bone, two live cartridges, and a dagger.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was involved in multiple kidnapping operations, including the abduction of victims identified as Gabriel in 2023 and John in 2025.

Azare also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies, assuring the public of sustained efforts to protect lives and property.
