The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with an armed robbery attack that occurred around the residences of students of the Adamawa State Polytechnic, Numan campus.

The attack reportedly took place in the early hours of May 28, 2026, when suspected hoodlums armed with cutlasses, sticks, and knives invaded a students’ compound behind MOPE Extension in Numan Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the attackers carted away cash, mobile phones, power banks, and other valuables belonging to the residents during the operation.
Some of the victims also sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital, Numan, for medical treatment.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said operatives attached to the divisional police headquarters in Demsa, responded swiftly to the distress call and immediately commenced investigations into the incident.

The statement confirmed that one suspect has so far been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who reportedly fled after the attack.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation.
The police commissioner reassured students and residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“The command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” the statement read.
The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
