The Delta State Police Command has arrested four members of a suspected fraud syndicate and recovered 1,600 counterfeit United States dollar notes during an intelligence-led operation in Asaba.

The command also arrested two suspected female drug dealers and recovered large quantities of illicit substances in separate operations across the state.
Police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Thursday in Asaba.
According to him, officers of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence, launched surveillance on a five-man gang allegedly involved in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public with fake dollar bills.
Edafe said the suspects were operating in a red, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV before they were apprehended along Nnebisi Road in Asaba on June 9.

The suspects were identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma and John Egwuba.
“During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to operating from a hideout in Asaba,” the statement said.
A follow-up raid on the hideout led to the recovery of 1,600 counterfeit dollar notes and military camouflage concealed within the premises.
The police spokesman said investigations were ongoing to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and track down other members still at large.
In another operation carried out on the same day, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) arrested two women suspected of dealing in illicit drugs.
The suspects, identified as Ifeoma Egbule, 36, and Anayeokwu Florence, 51, were apprehended during a raid on Owaliru and Alihame communities in Ika North-East Local Government Area.
Edafe said the suspects were found in possession of substantial quantities of suspected narcotic substances, including GH Gold, Colorado, Cannabis and Canadian Loud.
He noted that preliminary investigations revealed that the women were actively involved in the distribution of the substances within the area.
Efforts, he added, were ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the drug distribution network.
Commending the operatives for the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised their professionalism and dedication to duty.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing the safety of residents across Delta State.
