The Adamawa State Police command has intensified its campaign against Shilla gangsterism and other criminal activities, resulting in the arrest of two suspects linked to separate cases of burglary and armed robbery in Yola North Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, police officers of the Doubeli Division arrested a 22-year-old suspect, Idris Auwal, on June 3, 2026, over his alleged involvement in a burglary incident at Nassarawo Borehole in Yola.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly collaborated with three accomplices, who are currently on the run, to break into a shop belonging to Abdullahi Sunusi.
The gang reportedly made away with a bag containing cash, important documents and assorted provisions.
The police said Auwal was apprehended following diligent investigation, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the group.
In a separate operation carried out on June 5, operatives of the division arrested another suspected Shilla gang member accused of armed robbery.
The suspect allegedly attacked one Abubakar Abdullahi, along the Doubeli Bypass with a cutlass and dispossessed him of an Itel mobile phone and N19,000 cash.

The victim reportedly sustained injuries to the head during the attack.
Police operatives responded promptly to the incident, arrested the suspect and facilitated immediate medical attention for the victim.
Items recovered from the suspects include a cutlass, a knife and the stolen mobile phone.
The command disclosed that both suspects are currently undergoing investigation, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend other members of the criminal gang still at large.
The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating Shilla gangsterism and other forms of criminality across the state.
It also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information to enhance public safety and security.
