The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, has decorated 457 officers recently promoted from the rank of constable to corporal, charging them to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
The decoration ceremony took place at the state police headquarters in Asaba and was attended by other senior police officers.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, Oyeniyi described the promotion as a reward for hard work, discipline, loyalty and commitment to service.
He noted that advancement in rank is a significant milestone in the career of every police officer and reflects the confidence reposed in them by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
The police commissioner, however, reminded the officers that promotion comes with increased responsibilities and higher expectations.
He urged them to remain steadfast in carrying out their duties and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and discipline at all times.

According to him, the newly promoted corporals must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the police and strengthens public confidence in the institution.
Oyeniyi also called on the officers to align themselves with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, by respecting the rights of citizens, enhancing community engagement and maintaining public trust.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to personnel welfare, career development and merit-based promotion, stressing that diligence, exemplary conduct and dedication remain critical requirements for career advancement in the force.
The commissioner congratulated the officers on their promotion and encouraged them to see the elevation as motivation to contribute more effectively to policing and public safety in Delta State.
