The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged killing of a man identified as Okon, who was reportedly set ablaze inside his room in Ikot Udo Obobo Village, Ukanafun Local Government Area.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, who disclosed that the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations and detailed investigations.
According to the police on Tuesday, operatives swiftly responded to credible intelligence and arrived at the scene, where the victim was found burnt beyond recognition under circumstances suggesting a deliberate and premeditated act.
“The area was immediately secured, and a full-scale investigation was launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement said.
The command added that sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated investigative efforts led to the arrest of the suspects, who are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

“They are providing useful information that will help identify other possible accomplices and establish the full details of the crime,” the police noted.
Authorities have since ordered a comprehensive and discreet investigation to ensure all those involved in the act are identified and brought to justice.
Describing the incident as a case of culpable homicide, the police assured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property, vowing to act decisively against criminal activities across the state.
