The Delta State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects, allegedly linked to a string of robbery incidents in Ughelli and its environs.

Key Highlights;

  • The arrests were carried out by the Command Anti-Vice Squad with support from local vigilantes following intelligence reports.
  • The suspects allegedly confessed to multiple robbery incidents in Ughelli and nearby areas.
  • Police also recovered a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs from an abandoned vehicle along the Ozoro–Oleh Expressway.
  • The command said investigations are ongoing to track other gang members and a fleeing drug suspect.

Police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Tuesday, said the operation followed credible intelligence received by the police.

According to him, operatives stormed the Okorodafe area of Ughelli at about 4:30 p.m. on June 14 and arrested Francis.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in several robbery operations, including a robbery incident that occurred along Aro Street, Ughelli, in April 2026,” the statement said.

Edafe said the suspect subsequently led police officers to a hideout in Ughelli where Erueseke, believed to be another member of the gang, was arrested at about 5:40 p.m. the same day.

Despite immediate efforts to apprehend him, the suspect escaped.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs, including codeine, tramadol, swinol, Man G and vega.

The recovered exhibits have been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspect.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, , commended the police officers for their professionalism and resilience.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime, dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
