Residents of Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been thrown into grief following reports that a teacher abducted from Community High School has been killed by his captors.

The victim, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was among several persons kidnapped when armed men reportedly stormed the school on Friday, May 15, abducting the principal, other staff members, and some students during the attack.

The tragic incident has heightened fears over growing insecurity in parts of the state, coming weeks after a failed kidnap attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu Road allegedly left a traveller dead.

According to reports, the abductors released a disturbing video on Sunday, allegedly showing the execution of Oyedokun.

The development has sparked outrage and deep concern among residents, especially families of those still being held captive.

The atmosphere within the community has remained tense and sorrowful, with residents struggling to come to terms with the incident.

Families of the victims have appealed to security agencies and the Oyo State government to intensify rescue operations and ensure the safe return of those still in captivity.

Community leaders have also called for improved security around schools and vulnerable rural communities to prevent further attacks.
