The founder of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has disclosed that the church operates a free rehabilitation programme for repentant kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists as part of efforts to reduce crime.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, Chinyere explained that the initiative is funded through tithes and offerings contributed by members of the church.
He said individuals rescued from criminal hideouts are first disarmed, with recovered weapons handed over to the police, before undergoing a structured rehabilitation process that combines spiritual guidance and vocational training.
“When I rescue them from camps, they surrender their guns, which I hand over to the police. They undergo spiritual and physical rehabilitation,” he said.
The cleric added that participants are baptised and documented by law enforcement authorities as part of their reintegration process.
“They get water baptised and are taken to police headquarters for proper documentation,” he noted.
According to him, the programme also focuses on equipping beneficiaries with practical skills to help them rebuild their lives.
These include training in furniture making, welding, electrical and electronics work, scaffolding, tailoring, information and communication technology, and oil and gas-related skills.

Chinyere said the initiative, which has been sustained for over 15 years, has contributed to reducing crime by transforming former offenders into productive members of society.
“By the grace of God, for more than 15 years, God has used OPM to support the police in reducing crime.
“Many of these youths are no longer involved in criminal activities but are now engaged in legitimate work,” he added.
