Consul-General of Embassy of German in Nigeria, Dr Bernd Von Munchow-Pohl, yesterday, said the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industry and Agriculture (ONICCIMA) has great potential to compete with other cambers in the global business world.
Munchow-Pohl, who stated this during a visit to the chamber in Onitsha, Anambra State, with members of his team, however, expressed reservation that diplomatic bottlenecks and other social and political vices act as impediments to the progress recorded by the chamber.
The diplomat, who arrived the Government Reserved Area (GRA) Secretariat of ONICCMA in Onitsha with members of his team were received by the President of the chamber, Sir Kelvin Obieri and other officials of the chamber.
While detailing the visiting team on the achievements recorded by ONICCIMA so far and areas of cooperation with the German Embassy, Obieri said as a developed economy with the largest economic in Europe that members of the chamber stand the opportunity of exporting their goods and services to Germany through the cooperation of the embassy.
Responding, the Consul-General and Head of Germany in Nigeria, Munchow-Pohl affirmed the challenges faced by some Nigerians while attempting to initiate contact on how to improve and advance their businesses.

He said the embassy will study the challenges faced by ONICCIMA and its members, adding that the embassy will find ways to assist the ONICCIMA’s members to surmount some of the business challenges.
While commending the diligence and competence of members of ONICCIMA, he said they have shown great determination in their various businesses, adding that the embassy was looking inwards to find areas of cooperation between his country and Nigeria.
The Consul-General and his entourage later joined the ONICCIMA officials for a working visit to three factories of members of ONICCIMA namely: Tiger Foods Limited, Rexton Industries Limited and Kates Associate Limited.
