The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Enugu 2026 National Sports Festival Organising Committee for including volleyball and beach volleyball among the sporting events for the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
The federation described the inclusion of both disciplines as a major boost for the development of volleyball in Nigeria, particularly in talent identification, athlete development and the expansion of competitive opportunities across the country.
In a statement issued released on Thursday, the NVBF specifically praised the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, for their leadership and commitment to the growth of the sport.
According to the federation, the decision to feature both volleyball and beach volleyball at the festival will further strengthen the pathway for athletes to progress from grassroots competitions to national and international stages.

The NVBF said the inclusion would also provide an important platform for discovering and nurturing emerging talents from across the country.
The federation has consequently called on State Ministries and Departments responsible for Sports, State Sports Councils and State Volleyball Associations to immediately begin preparations for the Enugu 2026 National Sports Festival.
It urged the relevant bodies to organise trials and select their best volleyball and beach volleyball athletes to represent their respective states at the competition.
