The video, which began circulating widely on September 15, shows Soludo speaking as an APGA governorship candidate and crediting Obi with implementing the party’s manifesto, constructing roads and recording improvements in the state’s poverty and unemployment figures.
In the footage, Soludo reportedly said: “Peter Obi did relatively well as an APGA governor, he did the roads. Anambra State had poverty rate decline from 53% to 14.8% under Peter Obi. Anambra State had the lowest unemployment in Nigeria at 13%.”
The resurfaced remarks have generated heated reactions, with some Nigerians accusing Soludo of changing his narrative on Obi since becoming governor, while others argued that the old video should be viewed in its political context.
One X user, @Emexkristo, wrote: “That video was a cut and join video. Soludo praised Obi and Obiano. He hailed Obiano for reducing poverty rate and unemployment rate in Anambra State. Soludo lauded Obi for implementing the APGA manifesto and for constructing roads”.

Another user, @BabaOkafor, began his reaction by saying: “Soludo said this with his own mouth. The same people who spent years telling us Obi did nothing in Anambra should…”
The resurfaced footage comes amid renewed political tension surrounding Obi and Soludo, with the governor’s past comments now being compared with his more recent criticism of the former Anambra governor.
The debate has consequently shifted beyond the video itself, with Nigerians questioning whether Soludo’s assessment of Obi’s record has changed because of political circumstances or whether the two positions can be reconciled based on the different contexts in which they were made.
