Nigeria’s women’s beach volleyball team recorded a convincing 2-0 victory over Lesotho at the ongoing African Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Nigerian pair on Wednesday dominated the opening set, cruising to a 21-8 win before Lesotho mounted a stronger challenge in the second set.
Nigeria, however, maintained its composure to secure a 21-18 victory and complete a straight-sets triumph.
The championship, being held at Abu Heif Beach, will run until August 22 under the patronage of Alexandria Governor Engineer Ayman Atiya.
Aida Ismail, a member of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Board, is serving as chairperson of the Supreme Organising Committee.

The championship serves as a qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with the winners of the men’s and women’s competitions securing direct qualification for the Games.
A total of 45 teams are competing in the championship, comprising 24 men’s and 21 women’s teams from 28 African countries.
Egypt’s hosting of the continental competition further highlights the country’s commitment to staging major African sporting events and reinforces Alexandria’s growing reputation as a destination for international and continental competitions.
