Nigeria’s U18 Boys Volleyball Team have been crowned African champions after a stunning straight-sets victory over hosts Egypt, prompting Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, to hail the young stars for making history and putting the country back on the continental map.

The Nigerian boys produced a dominant display to defeat hosts Egypt 25-22, 25-21, 25-14 in the final of the 2026 African Nations U18 Boys Championship in Alexandria on Wednesday, sealing the country’s first continental title in the competition and booking a ticket to the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Boys U19 World Championship.
Reacting to the historic triumph, NVBF President Engineer Musa Nimrod described the victory as proof that the federation’s sustained investment in grassroots volleyball over the past nine years is yielding remarkable results.
“This victory reflects the hard work we have invested in grassroots volleyball. It also opens the door for these talented players to secure professional opportunities with clubs across North Africa and beyond,” Nimrod said.
He commended the federation’s board members, coaches and stakeholders for their unwavering support, describing their contributions as instrumental to the team’s success.
