The recruitment exercise covers major examinations conducted by NECO, including the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), and other related assessment exercises.
According to the council on Tuesday, the engagement is temporary and strictly ad hoc, designed to involve qualified education professionals who can ensure credible, transparent, and well-coordinated examination processes across the country.

The digital system is expected to reduce manual bottlenecks and enhance supervision of deployed staff.
Successful applicants will serve as examination supervisors and assistant supervisors at designated examination centres, where they will act as NECO representatives responsible for ensuring strict compliance with examination rules and regulations.
Their duties will include supervising examination sessions, enforcing guidelines, ensuring proper handling of question papers and answer booklets, monitoring candidates, and reporting any irregularities or misconduct observed during the examination period.
The council explained that supervisors will also be responsible for ensuring that examination centres meet required standards and that all sessions commence and conclude according to official schedules.
NECO further noted that deployment will be based on state assignments, with candidates posted within their states or designated locations as required.
The recruitment exercise is open to qualified Nigerians, including teachers, lecturers, education officers, school administrators, and retired education professionals.
Applicants must possess relevant academic qualifications ranging from the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and PhD, where applicable.
The council emphasized that applicants must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and must have no record of examination malpractice.
Basic digital literacy is considered an added advantage.
Applicants are also required to present valid identification documents such as National Identification Number (NIN), voter’s card, driver’s license, or international passport, alongside academic and professional credentials where applicable.
NECO highlighted that the ad hoc engagement provides an opportunity for additional income, professional experience in examination administration, and contribution to national development through credible assessment processes.
The council explained that the introduction of a digital recruitment system is aimed at enhancing transparency in selection, improving deployment efficiency, reducing favoritism, and strengthening examination security nationwide.
It also stated that the system will help reduce malpractice by ensuring better monitoring and accountability of all examination personnel.
NECO urged interested and qualified candidates to complete their applications through the official recruitment portal, warning applicants to ensure accuracy of all submitted information, as false declarations or forged documents will lead to disqualification.
The council assured that allowances will be paid according to approved examination assignments and operational guidelines.
The recruitment exercise is expected to support the successful delivery of the 2026 national examinations and strengthen Nigeria’s education assessment system.
