The Joint Task Force (North East) of ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ in collaboration with the Office of the national security adviser tactical team, have dislodged a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist camp in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing more than 21 terrorists.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of August 27, 2026, was carried out following credible intelligence on the location of the terrorists’ enclave.
According to a statement issued by the acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, the troops navigated the rugged terrain before launching a precision assault on the terrorist camp.
He said the operation is part of intensified efforts to locate and rescue victims being held by terrorist elements, including persons abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and the Lassa school children abducted in June.
Goni said the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters, during which more than 21 terrorists were killed, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Following the successful assault, the troops dominated the area, dismantled the entire camp and destroyed logistics infrastructure believed to have supported the terrorists’ operations.

During exploitation of the camp, the troops destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, which were believed to have been used for terrorist logistics and mobility.
The troops also recovered several AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition from the terrorists’ hideout.
The military described the operation as a demonstration of the joint force’s intelligence-gathering capabilities, tactical proficiency and ability to project combat power into difficult terrain.
It said the successful assault has further degraded the operational capabilities of terrorist elements and denied them freedom of action within the area.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, resilience and coordination during the operation.
It reaffirmed the commitment of the military and other security agencies to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against terrorist groups across the North-East.
The Joint Task Force also assured the public that search and rescue operations would continue until abducted persons are located and rescued, while military operations would be sustained to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt their logistics and restore lasting peace and security across the region.
