Residents and political stakeholders in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State have criticised the choice of Adamu Kamale as running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Ahmed Galadima, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The criticism was contained in reactions to a political post shared on the Adamawa Pulse Facebook group, where some contributors questioned Kamale’s record during his years in elective office.

Kamale, who has represented the Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, previously served in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

According to the political message, Kamale spent 12 years in public office — eight years in the state House of Assembly and four years in the National Assembly.

The message alleged that only 35 people benefited from his empowerment initiatives during the period, while also claiming that residents of some wards were excluded.

The claims have however, generated differing reactions among members of the community, with some questioning the accuracy of the figures.

One contributor, Iyasco Jnr, challenged the authenticity of an empowerment list reportedly being circulated. “Sadly, the list in circulation is fake, more than 15 people on the list are still jobless,” he said.

Another contributor, Sen Gwamna Skwame, said Madzi Ward was also allegedly left out of the empowerment scheme.
“Madzi ward is also left behind. I don’t know where he got the 35 people from,” he said.

However, not everyone agreed with the criticism. A Michika resident, Yusuf Tikka, disputed the claims and said he personally benefited from Kamale’s intervention.

“Na lie, I am among his property he empowered me even though I am not in his community,” Tikka said.

The contrasting reactions highlight the debate surrounding Kamale’s record as he prepares to join the APC governorship campaign as Galadima’s running mate.

While some residents are questioning the scale and spread of his constituency empowerment initiatives, others insist that his interventions have benefited individuals within and outside his immediate community.

The controversy comes as political activities intensify in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties expected to face increasing scrutiny over the records of their candidates and running mates.

The allegations regarding the number of empowerment beneficiaries and their distribution across wards could not be independently verified.

Kamale has yet to publicly respond to the specific claims contained in the social media reactions cited in the report.
