American tennis star Madison Keys claimed her third Eastbourne Open title after defeating Germany’s Maria Tatjana 7-5, 6-4 in Saturday’s final of the Wimbledon warm-up tournament.
The second seed needed one hour and 33 minutes to overcome the world No. 112 in hot conditions on England’s south coast, securing her first title since capturing the Australian Open crown earlier this year.
Key highlights:
- Madison Keys won her third Eastbourne Open title.
- She defeated Maria Tatjana 7-5, 6-4 in the final.
- It is Keys’ first title since winning the Australian Open.
- She became the third woman to win Eastbourne three times.
- The victory boosts her confidence ahead of Wimbledon.
The victory places the 31-year-old alongside tennis greats Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova as only the third woman to win the Eastbourne title three times.
Keys gained revenge for her semifinal defeat to Tatjana on the grass courts of Queen’s Club last year. The German was playing in her first final since finishing runner-up at the Trophee Clarins in Paris in May.
Eastbourne continues to be one of Keys’ most successful tournaments.
She won her maiden WTA title there 12 years ago before lifting the trophy again in 2023. Saturday’s triumph marked the 11th WTA singles title of her career and came in her 16th tour-level final.

The American has now won four career titles on grass, having also lifted the Birmingham trophy a decade ago.
The victory provides a timely confidence boost ahead of Wimbledon, which begins on Monday, June 29.
Despite her success on grass, Keys has never progressed beyond the quarterfinals at the All England Club.
She is scheduled to open her Wimbledon campaign against fellow American Kayla Day in the first round on Tuesday, June 30.
