“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Lara Kudayisi Don-Momoh.

“After a brief illness, Coach Lara passed away peacefully,” the family stated.

The family appealed to the public to respect their privacy as they come to terms with the loss, while also asking for prayers for Lara and those mourning her.

“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul, and for all who mourn this immeasurable loss,” the statement added.

According to the family, details of Lara’s funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Lara’s death has since prompted an outpouring of condolences from friends, associates and well-wishers, as the family begins to mourn the mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend they described as deeply beloved.
