The Nigerian international struck in the 33rd minute to end Fulham’s six-match winless run in the league and ease the pressure on head coach Álvaro Arbeloa.
The victory lifted Fulham to five points, moving them off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone, while Hull remained ninth.
How Iwobi Broke the Deadlock
Iwobi broke the deadlock after Hull failed twice to clear their lines, allowing Sander Berge to slide the ball into the Nigerian’s path on the edge of the penalty area.
The midfielder curled a low effort towards goal, with the ball taking a deflection off Hull defender Lucas Herrington before slipping underneath goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
The goal proved enough to separate the sides in the 100th meeting between the clubs across all competitions.
Fulham Dominate Possession
Fulham dominated possession for much of the encounter, patiently building attacks through intricate passing as they sought to translate their territorial advantage into goals.
Iwobi played a central role in the hosts’ midfield, while Oscar Bobb, Shea Charles and Josh King provided energy and creativity.
Fulham recorded 76.2 per cent possession and completed 717 passes, their highest total in a Premier League match this season.
Despite their dominance, the hosts were unable to extend their lead. Garcia headed against the crossbar, while Tzolakis denied clear opportunities for Iwobi and King.
Hull, meanwhile, struggled to create meaningful chances, with Mohamed Belloumi’s second-half effort that went wide arguably their best opportunity to equalise.

Late Red Card for Sessegnon
Fulham’s only major setback came deep into stoppage time when Ryan Sessegnon was sent off for a challenge from behind that saw his studs catch the back of Robinio Vaz’s calf.
The dismissal did little to spoil the celebrations as Fulham held on to claim a much-needed victory.
Relief for Arbeloa
The result provided relief for Arbeloa, who took charge at Craven Cottage in July following Marco Silva’s departure but had struggled to turn encouraging performances into positive results.
Before Saturday’s match, Fulham had collected just two points from their opening six league fixtures, raising concerns among supporters and the club’s hierarchy.
The victory could now provide a platform for improvement as Arbeloa seeks to build confidence in his team’s playing philosophy.
For Iwobi, the goal was his first in the Premier League this season and another important contribution from the Nigerian midfielder, whose experience proved valuable in a match where Fulham’s control eventually delivered the desired result.
